JLCNY Press Releases

BINGHAMTON – June 17, 2014 – Dan Fitzsimmons, President of the Joint Landowners Coalition of New York said: “Our 77,000 landowners are outraged at the continued attempts by the New York State Assembly to stall safe, responsible natural gas development.  We urge our Senate and Governor Cuomo to ignore the Assembly’s actions and to follow our national leaders like President Obama, Hillary Clinton and Senator Schumer, who each understand the importance of developing our domestic resources. On May 5, 2014 Senator Schumer said: "Overall, the Democrats throughout the country have supported fracking. The President has, most of us have, and it's worked quite well."

Our country has made significant advances in cleaning the air, creating jobs and reducing our dependence on foreign oil. Unfortunately, NY threatens to undermine our nation’s progress.  Governor Cuomo’s inability to lead on this issue has fostered the extremist agenda of the anti-development activists.  It’s time for our legislature and Governor Cuomo to fall in step with our nation’s leaders and to complete NY’s drilling rules so that our state can realize the benefits produced from this American energy revolution."
