JLCNY In the News

From Joint Landowners Coalition:

The Joint Landowners Coalition of New York (JLCNY) applauded U.S. District Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis’ decision to dismiss a lawsuit preventing natural gas development in the Delaware River Basin.

“We are pleased the court dismissed this lawsuit brought by NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. This brings our landowners in the Delaware River Basin one step closer to moving forward with natural gas development. We encourage the DRBC to complete its regulations promptly, and for NY to move onto the important business of developing our state’s energy so that we may accomplish twin goals of improving our environment and boosting our economy," said Dan Fitzsimmons, president of the JLCNY, representing over 77,000 New York landowners with over one million acres of land.

“As NY state has been consumed by efforts such as this lawsuit without merit, farmers throughout the Delaware River Basin have lost their land to high costs and a desperate economy,” said Bill Graby, co-founder of the 70,000 acre-plus Sullivan Delaware Property Owners Association. “It’s too late for many of these hardworking, lifelong NYers, but we hope this lawsuit being dismissed is a signal we are on the right track toward moving toward common sense, safe and responsible natural gas development in Sullivan County and throughout the Delaware River Basin.”
