JLCNY In the News
The Joint Landowners Coalition of New York is endorsing candidates it says have shown a commitment to landowner rights.

The endorsements focus primarily on races for the State Assembly and Senate across a 14 county region of New York where gas drilling within the Marcellus Shale may take place. The state DEC is currently reviewing its proposed hydrofracking regulations, but JLCNY President Dan Fitzsimmons says he thinks elected leaders will still have influence over the process. He says true environmentalists support fracking.

Fitzsimmons says, "In the last 2 years, we've lowered the CO2 output by the United States by 10%. This is a tremendous thing to have done and it's been through natural gas development changing over and getting rid of coal and starting to generate electricity through natural gas. We'll be able to do so much more with natural gas to lower global warming which is such an important issue. As we've seen with the hurricanes and other weather changes we've been seeing."

Among the local candidates endorsed, State Senator Tom Libous, Congressman Richard Hanna, Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Assembly candidate Julie Lewis. For a complete list go to
