Since the Governor announced his political ban on Natural Gas development the question on everyone’s minds is "What can we do to fight back?". Well here is our next opportunity to show our support for Natural Gas efforts in NY...
What to do...
Print and sign the attached letters. Submit them to the DEC at the hearings!
Show your support for Jobs and Natural Gas opportunities for the coalitions and communities in the Southern Tier and along the I-88 corridor!
Show your support for the counties and towns receiving the taxes the Constitution will pay so that landowners and businesses might get a break!
Show your support for the communities along the Constitution that will have access to affordable Marcellus Natural Gas so that schools and businesses might get a break!
Save the best for last and vent your frustration with the DEC for relying on junk science. GIVE 'EM HELL FOR THAT!!!
How to do it...
ATTEND THE DEC HEARINGS MONDAY 01-12, TUESDAY 01-13, AND WEDNESDAY 01-14
An administrative law judge will take public comments on the FERC approved “Constitution” Pipeline with one hearing each in Binghamton, Oneonta, and Cobleskill. It is critical that we attend. Bring signs, bring family, bring friends, and wear green. To assure having an opportunity to speak, be there early(two hours?) to add your name to the sign-up sheet.
The details...
The DEC can stop this pipeline but they won't if you show your support for it with substantive comments like the following.
The antis will claim that it will destroy water resources, but you can tell the DEC that history shows that pipelines simply don't do that. Tell the DEC that pipeline builders know how to avoid damaging water resources and creating flood threats as required by FERC and DEC permits.
Pipelines provide valuable forest edge habitat and open meadow like habitat. Tell the DEC that you support the diverse habitat that the pipeline will provide for NY wildlife.
The pipeline will supply Marcellus gas to New England communities so they can have more affordable energy. Tell the DEC that you support using clean burning Marcellus Gas for American jobs and homes!
More importantly to us, the pipeline will provide gas to NY communities along the pipeline to stimulate NY local economies. The pipeline will pay taxes to NY towns and counties so that NY landowners and NY business owners might get a break. Tell the DEC that you support that!
It is proven that pipelines provide jobs to local construction workers. Given the size and length of the Constitution it will provide a lot of jobs to NY workers as it is built. Tell the DEC that you support the jobs it will bring as it is built!
Since the start of the year antis have been filing requests for a rehearing with FERC, claiming that FERC violated federal laws and the United States Constitution.Tell the DEC the only violation of the Constitution is the DEC's, DOH's, and Governor's reliance on JUNK Science to ban NG development and that you don't support that for Natural Gas or the pipeline! New Yorker’s rights have been violated by the DEC once so tell the DEC that they better not do so again by stopping the pipeline based on the anti's false claims.
Our job now is to flood these hearing rooms and inundate the DEC with substantive comments. Let them have it!
