Scott Cline of Stanley, NY has been selected by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to serve as well construction and well operations subject matter expert at the upcoming EPA Hydraulic Fracturing Study technical sessions in Arlington VA. EPA’s main objectives of the sessions are to understand the latest techniques available and to obtain ideas for implementing the 2010 EPA “Study of the Relationship between Hydraulic Fracturing and Drinking Water” that was requested by Congress in the 2010 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill.

Dr. Scott Cline holds s a BS in geological science from Penn State and both MS and PhD in petroleum engineering from University of Oklahoma. He began his career in 1976 as a geophysicist for Gulf Oil Corporation (now Chevron) and later worked as geologist, petroleum engineer, and senior manager for several other oil and gas companies based in Houston and Oklahoma City. He has published extensively on a wide range of oil and gas topics and his research interests include horizontal drilling in fractured reservoirs, reservoir simulation, oil and gas valuation and reserve analysis, and unitization matters.  After a career in the petroleum industry he relocated back to the Finger Lakes Region of NY.
