Molinaro: Buffalo Billion Corruption Trial
Revelations Demand that Cuomo Return at
Least $350,000 in Tainted Donor Money

New York--June 19...New York gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro today called on Governor Andrew Cuomo to return at least $350,000 in political donations given to him or facilitated by Louis P. Ciminelli, a major Cuomo donor on trial in the ongoing federal corruption proceedings involving an alleged bid-rigging scheme in Buffalo that handed Mr. Ciminelli's company a $750 million, taxpayer-paid state construction contract.

Mr. Ciminelli and members of his family donated more than $100,000 to Mr. Cuomo while pursuing the massive taxpayer-paid construction project, according to reports, and he hosted another fundraiser for the governor that yielded in excess of $250,000 just as the state was issuing its Request for Proposal (RFP) for the project, prosecutors say.

"Follow the money," Mr. Molinaro said: "Andrew Cuomo-in this case alone-is sitting on at least $350,000 in tainted donations, yet he seems to think nothing of keeping it for his political convenience. I call on the governor to do the honorable thing and return this money."

State and federal investigators are also looking into $400,000 Mr. Cuomo received in political donations from a firm called Crystal Run Healthcare that was awarded a $25 million state cash grant. Questions abound, too, about $300,000 in donations Mr. Cuomo was given by individuals and entities that were gifted a brand new, custom-built, taxpayer-paid, 52,000-square-foot facility outside of Syracuse for a planned Film Hub that went belly-up before it could even get off the ground. Mr. Cuomo even gave luxury automaker Cadillac a million taxpayers dollars it didn't need to spruce up a tony SOHO facility in New York City -- after the PAC run by Cadillac's parent company gave Cuomo $31,500 in political donations.

"Mr. Cuomo put a 'For Sale' sign on his office door eight years ago, and his overstuffed campaign account shows it," Mr. Molinaro continued. "The question taxpayers need to ask is how much did the $31 million in Cuomo's political war chest cost us? It's time for Mr. Cuomo to start giving that money back."
