Cuomo Using Public Schools for Political Gain:
Molinaro Files Complaint With JCOPE, NYC Special Commissioner of Education & NYC Office of Legal Service

Cuomo's latest actions are a new low

New York-- June 14 - The campaign for New York gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro (R, C, Reform) today will file complaints with JCOPE, the NYC Special Commissioner of Education and the NYC Office of Legal Services, calling for investigations into Cuomo's use of school property, students, teachers and administrators for political campaign events.

"Governor Cuomo should be ashamed for using our schools and students to advance his political campaign. As a parent and as a taxpayer I am disgusted with his latest actions," said Molinaro.

Cuomo's actions are clear violations of both the New York Public Officers Law 74, and regulation D-130 of the New York City Department of Education. New York City Department of Education regulations clearly states the following:

1. The use of any Department of Education school during school/business hours by any person, group, organization, committee, etc., on behalf of, or for the benefit of any elected official, candidate, candidates, slate of candidates or political
organization/committee is prohibited.

2. No rallies, forums, programs, etc., on behalf of, or for the benefit of any elected
official, particular candidate, candidates, slate of candidates or political
organization/committee may be held in a school building.

These events culminated in a television commercial supported by a statewide media buy announced and paid for by the Cuomo re-election campaign.

"In filing these complaints, based on their failed record, we have little faith in JCOPE, we hope the City of New York takes ethics more seriously," said Lynn Krogh, Campaign Manager
