Asks Governor Cuomo: 'What Were You Thinking?'
New York--June 12...New York gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro today called on American luxury automobile maker Cadillac to return $1 million in tax revenue that Governor Andrew Cuomo recently gave the company. The million dollars was given to Cadillac to help beautify its multi-million-dollar SOHO office suite.

The PAC controlled by Cadillac's parent company had donated $31,500 to Mr. Cuomo's political campaign committee as of February.

"Andrew Cuomo needs to explain why he would give a million taxpayer dollars to a company that sold more than 356,000 vehicles last year," Mr. Molinaro, the Dutchess County Executive, said. "To suggest that Cadillac would abandon its New York City headquarters unless it was handed a million public dollars is preposterous in the extreme. I call on Mr. Cuomo to explain himself, and I respectfully ask Cadillac, on behalf of millions of frustrated New York taxpayers, to return that money to the public in whatever way it deems appropriate."

Cadillac sold the second highest number of cars in its 115-year history in 2017, with year-over-year sales growth exceeding 15 percent, according to its own website.

"I am calling on Cadillac to be a good corporate neighbor and return the money to overtaxed New Yorkers with real needs," Mr. Molinaro continued. "Let me be clear: Cadillac doesn't have to return the public's money -- Andrew Cuomo handed it to them -- but I am asking the company to do the right thing nonetheless."

Mr. Cuomo has been widely criticized for handing out billions of dollars in tax breaks and grants to companies and individuals who have donated millions of dollars to his political campaigns.
