ANATOMY OF A TAXPAYER SCAM:
-----
FIFTEEN-MILLION-DOLLAR SYRACUSE FILM STUDIO BUST EXPOSES CUOMO MISUSE OF PUBLIC DOLLARS FOR PERSONAL GAIN

Molinaro: "Whatever Happened to Right and Wrong?"

New York--June 4..."New York taxpayers are out $14,999,999.00 -- but Andrew Cuomo is still sitting on $300,000 in political donations, and that's not right."

So said Reform New York gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro Monday in calling on Governor Cuomo to return all donations received from individuals or entities involved in the financially suspicious -- and now defunct -- Central New York Film Hub project.

Mr. Molinaro called the Central New York Film Hub boondoggle, in which $15 million in public money was used to build a never-occupied, 52,000-square-foot facility outside of Syracuse, "the anatomy of a taxpayer scam." The facility, which Governor Cuomo said would create "at least 350 new high-tech jobs" in his 2014 announcement of the "economic development" project, was sold on Friday for $1 -- a $14,999,999.00 taxpayer loss. Only two jobs were ever created, and several Cuomo donors involved in the project are now facing federal corruption charges.

"Andrew Cuomo must know right from wrong, and keeping $300,000 in political donations, while New Yorkers are forced to take a $15 million bath, is clearly wrong," Mr. Molinaro said. "But time and again we see this from Mr. Cuomo -- it's almost formulaic -- millions, indeed, billions of dollars in public grants and tax breaks are handed out to Cuomo donors; the projects turn out to be a bust, and Mr. Cuomo's campaign committees pocket the cash. In the Central New York Film Hub boondoggle we see this practice crystallized."

Mr. Molinaro, who has pledged to ban all pay-to-play donations as governor, called on Governor Cuomo to return all political donations that could in any way be construed to have come from entities involved in the Central New York Film Hub project.

"A CEO would resign or be fired for such gross mismanagement," Mr. Molinaro continued. "The least Governor Cuomo can do is give back the money he made from the deal, or donate it to the state treasury. That's what an honorable chief executive would do."
